Anyone looking to join a tiny house village in Portugal? đş
Weâre looking for creative cats and friendly families who would like to join our little tiny house eco-village and artistic campsite in the south of Alentejo, Portugal.
In May 2026 we will open the doors to the little village of our dreams, on a fantastic property with hectares of forest bordering an always-flowing river(!), slightly hilly with spectacular views over Alentejo mountains, right on the border of Alentejo and the Algarve. Itâs honestly one of the most beautiful pieces of land weâve seen – and weâve been looking for a long time. đĽš
You might know us from our earlier post about our Vila JĂłia: a similar project we’re currently building in our forest in Marateca, Portugal. Through our years working on this project we realised that there are so many people searching for a little village like ours – way more than we could host at our Marateca project. Besides, it will still take quite some time before our Vila JĂłia will be finished building – the bureaucratic proccesses in Portugal are no joke.. – so we set out to find the perfect place for a sister of our Vila JĂłia project. Somewhere we could start straight away.
We knew exactly what we were looking for this time around, and after a long search and visiting many, many properties, we found it! This place is perfect. It is stunning and has all the permissions and infrastructures present to start straight away; important things like clean drinking water from private wells, electricity, solar, septic systems, sanitary facilities, a little restaurant/bar, workshop spaces and lots more. We would only have to work on making it even more beautiful, and preparing (food)gardens, playgrounds, wellness areas, the little farm and some more facilities. đ´ â¨â¨We will be able to start soon; in May 2026. Here we donât have to wait many years for planning permissions, like we had to for our project in Marateca. Weâre just so excited to get to finally begin.
Whatâs the village weâre setting out to creare here? Think of a wholesome festival meets artistic campsite meets permaculture farm meets eco-village sort of space. Where we spend our days in the sun, surrounded by nature, great friends and family, animals, good food and clean water, and where our kids can play and grow up together, have their own forest school and get to spend their days outdoor busy with extracurricular activities, adventure and play. And where we, the adults, get to create, learn lots, work, grow foods, take care of the forest, of the animals, ourselves and each other and build together one of the most fantastic and unique artistic eco-campsites Portugal has seen. đâ¨
I say âone of the mostâ, because we will also be building our project in Marateca next year, which is located about 1,5 hours north of this new property. Close to Lisbon. We think there’s a great opportunity for these two projects to get to support each other in the future, and share knowledge, resources, hands and hearts.
Weâre looking for about 9 people/families to join us in this first stage. We offer plots on which you can legally place a tiny home or another unique habitable space. It can be all sorts of things; a schoolbus, or a boat, or train wagon, gosh, a small airplane(!?) or a tiny house. As long as itâs without foundation, itâs eco-friendly, and itâs beautiful. This last one is important, we want this little village to become a really beautiful and inspiring place.
You can either be here yourselves, for as long as you’d like, or when youâre not around you can rent it out: either the plot itself to visitors with their own wheels, or you can rent out the structure that you place on it, for short- or long term.
Besides being able to rent out your plot or tiny house, villagers will also have access to payed roles and commercial opportunities within the project. Jobs like managing the campsite or the campus, positions in the little forest school, running the cafĂŠ/restaurant, the shop, building, gardening, babysitting, hosting workshops or offering activities. If you have something youâd love to do and bring into the village, weâd love to hear!
Let us know if this resonates with you, by sending a personal message, and leave a comment when you did so that I can go look for you (somehow DMâs end up in weird folders), and Iâll send you more info, and we can start the conversation to see if weâre a match. â¨
Much love! â¤ď¸
